HYTROL STEPS UP TO THE PLATE WITH KNOCK BLOCK DONATION

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Hytrol Conveyor Company, Inc. and the Miracle League of Arkansas joined together to give children with disabilities the excitement of participating on the baseball diamond.

Hytrol was on-hand to donate a “Knock Block” to the Miracle League on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Little Rock. The mechanical device is used to assist children with hitting a ball off a tee.

Following the construction of one “Knock Block” for the Miracle League of Jonesboro, Ark., the Miracle League of Arkansas approached the conveyor company to build another for their field in Little Rock. Performance Engineer Chad Carlson headed up the endeavor after helping design the first with fellow Hytrol employee Joey Orsbourne.

“Our goal was to help kids participate who normally can’t,” Carlson said. “I really hope this machine can help inspire and encourage them to participate and grow.”

One unique feature to the latest “Knock Block” was the addition of a noise-making button to accommodate the needs of children who are visually impaired. It took about two months to complete the machine, according to Carlson.

“What a great day for us and this terrific gift,” said Peggy McCall, executive director of the Miracle League of Arkansas. “We can’t thank Chad and Hytrol enough for giving the thrill of a great hit to our players.”
