Hytrol Participates in “Girls in STEM” Program

JONESBORO, Ark. — Seventeen girls visited Hytrol on July 12 to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. The visit was part of the “Girls in STEM” program hosted by the Museum of Discovery.

Participants spent the day learning how to create parts, blueprints, and build a conveyor using engineering software. They also toured Hytrol’s production facility and Technology Center to see first-hand how the parts come together to create a conveyor.

“It is important that girls know the opportunities available to them in a STEM career,” said Hytrol Systems Product Engineer Lisa Richardson, who led Hytrol’s activities for the group. “My hope is that they take these experiences and grow their interest in STEM.”

“Girls in STEM” is a free, week-long camp for Arkansas girls from ages 12 to 15 that consists of hands-on activities led by female STEM professionals. The program is in its fourth year.
