SIMS SHARES INSIGHT ON LIFE AFTER GRADUATION PANEL
Sims was part of the “Life After A-State: Young Alumni Panel.” The panelists shared their experiences as a young professional. Topics included choosing a degree path, the importance of extracurricular activities and internships, the job search process and advice for current students.
“I was honored to participate in the conference,” said Sims. “I assisted with the inaugural conference as a student. This event means a lot to me. It helped form me into the young professional I am today.”
Four featured speakers highlighted the event, including Dr. Jane McBride Gates, provost and senior vice president for academic and student affairs at the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Systems Office, Courtney Rowe, vice president, corporate communications at National Geographic, Col. Shelly Woodard Schools, chief trial judge, United States Air Force, and Angela Taylor, software engineer, Google.
The conference is a forum for leadership and professional development created to inspire and motivate women in the business community. Keynote addresses by female leaders, workshops designed to hone skills in key areas, and interactive discussions are presented to engage students and professionals on important issues.
