HYTROL VP SERVES ON INTERNATIONAL PANEL AT A-STATE

JONESBORO, Ark. — Hytrol Vice President for Corporate Development Bob West served as a panelist during Arkansas State University’s eighth International Exhibition of Countries and Regions on Monday, March 11. The event, sponsored by the Neil Griffin College of Business, offered discussions on expanding trade, building relationships, adapting to change and experiencing cultural diversity.

West was joined by Melvin Torres, director of Western Hemisphere Trade at the World Trade Center in Arkansas, and Raman Joshi, president of FMH Conveyors. Their panel discussion focused on “Is exporting still a viable strategy to expand local Arkansas business?”

The panelists addressed the impact tariffs have on sales. Topics included other challenges of exporting such as a 24-hour business day environment and the growing need for skilled laborers.

“Discussions like these are not only beneficial for the academic community, but for our state’s economy,” said West. “Professors and students need to know the real-world challenges that are facing businesses to better prepare graduates to enter the workforce.”

Torres delivered the keynote address and spoke on the work of the World Trade Center in Arkansas to help companies in the state gain access to the global market. International trade from Arkansas businesses reached $6.3 billion in 2017 with the organization’s help.
