The Hytrol Story

Freeman, and singer “Tiny” Toni Doherty. The grand finale during the 2nd Hytrol Distributor Convention was the awarding of special “Pillar of Wisdom” award trophies to the deserving distributors. While the Pillar signs had already been placed on select columns in the Hytrol production area, each recipient was presented with a special award trophy to display in his office. During the convention, Sam Leone made a significant speech. The year 1968 was the heart of the Vietnam conflict. A telephone call had been made to Hytrol from a representative of the United States government. They were very interested in buying a large order of conveyor. It is not known if these conveyors would actually be used for the war effort, but the bottom line was, the government desired to purchase these conveyors directly from Hytrol, without going through a Hytrol dealer or distributor. It was a sizeable order and a great temptation to Hytrol’s sales department. But Sam, with an emphatic gesture, reiterated Hytrol’s firm commitment to “---Never sell direct---Not even to the U. S. Government!” The room was immediately filled with a thunderous applause and every distributor in the room got to their feet in gratitude! It was an emotional moment during Hytrol’s second convention, and a moment Sam never forgot! The second Hytrol Distributor Convention was a huge success. The distributors returned to their home territory full of enthusiasm. The year 1968 ended with a record sales volume of over $2 million!
